Airport of registration is located in Rome, Fiumicino airport (Leonardo da Vinci).

In 2009 airline company Alitalia has merged another Italian carrier – Air One. As result of this deal renewed Alitalia became the 5th airline company in Europe in terms of size.
And believe it or not Alitalia – the biggest Italian carrier is on the verge of bankruptcy. During entire history that began in 1946, Alitalia has never returned to net profit.
For beginning of 2014 net financial debt of the company is more than one billion euro.
