Embraer began to engineer light hybrid cargo aircraft

As Flightglobal writes it will have to replace in the military forces outdated cargo airplanes EMB-110 Bandeirante and EMB-120 Brasilia. The project of the cargo airplane got the name STOUT (Short Take Off Utility Transport).

In December 2019 Air Force of Brazil and Embraer signed agreement about mutual understanding on the base of which can be signed contract on engineering light hybrid cargo airplane. Brazilian company makes detailed design of the airplane under the agreement. The picture of perspective cargo airplane company showed on November 13th 2020.

In size STOUT will be compared to cargo airplanes EMB-110 and EMB-120. First has 15,1 meters in length, 4,9 meters in height and wing span 15,3 meters and the second – 20, 6,4 and 19,8 meters correspondingly. New cargo airplane is planned to be constructed according to four-engine scheme of high-wing airplane with T-shaped empennage. Electric engines will be installed per one at the center of the outerwing panel and per one on its winglets.

It is supposed that for STOUT’s take off will be enough 1,2 kilometers long airstrip. Flying range of the cargo airplane will be 2,4 thousand kilometers. Airplane will be able to transport cargoes with the weight up to three tons. Airplane will receive landing ramp in the tail part. STOUT will be able to transport up to 24 parachute jumpers or up to 30 soldiers. Other details about airplane are not revealed as of yet.
